About

I am a freelance journalist and writer from Glasgow, Scotland.

I have written for publications including The Ferret, The Sunday National, The Times Scotland, The Herald, The Guardian, OpenDemocracy, The Daily Record and the Times Educational Supplement Scotland. I have also made appearances on television and radio broadcasts such as Good Morning Scotland and Scotland Tonight.

Much of my work focuses on Scottish education and Freedom of Information, but I have also investigated areas such as land reform and political campaigning.

My first book, A Scottish Journey – Personal Impressions of Modern Scotland, was published by Luath Press in September 2018.

In 2017 I contributed a chapter on Scottish schooling to A Nation Changed? The SNP and Scotland Ten Years On (2017), and in 2019 followed this with a chapter in Scotland the Brave? Twenty Years of Change and the Future of the Nation.

I am also a lecturer delivering a range of English and communication courses, and was previously an English teacher at on the Isle of Arran.
